Green Recipes

Mountain Fern

Try cleaning the green way or in a manner that has less packaging. Here are some recipes to try. Enjoy!

Stains on clothes:

Ink on a washable item. Try wetting the stain with hair spray or rubbing alcohol, next rub it with regular bar soap. Be patient it may take several tries. Rinse with cold water as hot water will set the stain.

Toilet cleaning the green way:

Use ½ cup white vinegar in the toilet bowl once or twice a week. Scrub the inside of the bowl with a toilet brush and allow the vinegar to remain in the bowl for at least ½ hour. Baking soda is a good mild abrasive cleanser I use it as a scouring powder in the commode as well.

I have also tried the effervescing denture cleaner. Drop a couple tablets in the toilet let it bubble awhile then scrub with a toilet brush.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Borax
Lemon juice

Mix lemon juice and borax . It should have the consistency of toothpaste. Wet the sides of the toilet. Rub paste on toilet bowl. Let sit over night or at least a couple hours. Scrub thoroughly.

Borax should be handled carefully. You can find in your local grocery store under the name 20 Mule Team.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Try ½ cup bleach in toilet and allow it to set for a couple hours. Scrub with toilet brush.

All purpose cleaners:

Liquid Soap recipe This recipe can be used to make all purpose cleaners. I use it as laundry soap too. 1 cup for a full load of dirty clothes.

Mix together in a large pot or I’ve used a crock pot. Set over low heat, stirring occasionally until the soap has dissolved. Transfer to a jar and cover tightly. For a thinner soap, use 1 gallon of water. Essential oils are a wonderful addition to add to the cleaning experience.

Tea tree is an excellent addition to an all purpose cleaning solution because of it is active against all three varieties of infectious organisms: bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Lavender, lemongrass, geranium and sage are also great just to mention a few.
